Erasmus in Schools (EiS) is an activity that is born under the umbrella of the international project: SocialErasmus (SE). EiS is one of the eight causes of SE: education.

The main objective of creating EiS was to familiarize non-university students from each country with Europe and international mobility. Thus, among the objectives of the EiS activity are:

  • To make known the traditions and customs of citizens of different origin.
  • Foster international mobility
  • Break down stereotypes and promote values of democratic coexistence.

On the other hand, EiS offers a fantastic opportunity for the international students to approach the local communities where they live and to promote their countries of origin, integrating even more, in the society that welcomes them. At the same time, EiS gives local students the opportunity to have first-hand experience of other cultures in Europe.

To summarize, an Erasmus in Schools activity is for international students to visit local colleges and give lessons about their country, culture and traditions, to create cultural awareness among local students and to encourage them to participate in an exchange program in the future. The activities of Erasmus in Schools are beneficial for international students because they practice the presentations, as well as their teaching, organizational and at the same time they become new friends, integrating a little more in the society that receives them.
